OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
HACE is one of the few community development corporations to achieve success in both housing and economic development. Since 1982, HACE's developments have leveraged over $50 million in investments. HACE has:
- Developed more than 23,000 square feet of office and retail space.
- Co-founded the Fifth Street Business Association
- Co-founded the Latino Contractors Association
- Created the HACE Management Company as a wholly owned-subsidiary
- Implemented the nationally known Main Street Program model
Model Block Program
In collaboration with PNHS, HACE provided financial and program support to homeowners in the St. Hugh community to create model blocks. Home improvement loans and grants were obtained to improve the overall physical appearance of targeted consecutive blocks. The model block program generated a $500,000 investment within a two year period.
Housing
We have an exceptionally productive track record. Families, our seniors and our disabled residents reside in more than 300 housing units built by HACE. We build more every year; some are newly constructed; others are completely rehabilitated buildings rescued from deterioration. Several examples are:
- Somerset Villas (200 E. Somerset Street): a 100-unit HUD 202 development for seniors and disabled residents
- Villas de HACE (1426-44 N. 6th Street): a courtyard development of 24 apartments
- Homeownership- more than 50 units have been rehabilitated and sold to first time home buyers
- Rental- more than 15 scattered site rental units have been rehabilitated in further support of our housing preservation effort
- Villas Del Caribe (167 W. Allegheny Avenue): a townhouse family housing development with 81 apartments and a community building for supportive services
- Casa Caribe (173-183 W. Allegheny Avenue); a 53-unit HUD 202 housing development for seniors
